Stafford Walk Sunday 20th October 2013
We had a great walk despite the weather, though there were not many of us it meant we were able to chat and there were lots of lovely Staffies, mainly rescues. Little Nico showed his true colours doing the whole walk and going in the river, despite being only 13 weeks old.
A fantastic £76 was raised towards funds and we had an excellent day in Pets at Home afterwards.
We have 3 new dogs added to successes :- Peppa-Fleur, Jesse/Logan and Chilly.
Lexus starred as Bullseye, Bill Sykes dog, in Glebelands School performance of Oliver!
There were three performances, he was a total star and the children loved him.
He had to come down some steps off the stage and walk through the hall as well as run across the stage at one point which we achieved by throwing his ball. It didn’t work the first night but we had extra balls for the next performance and on the final night he excelled himself running after the first ball.
He certainly showed a positive side to Staffies and we were so proud of him.
Renegade Racing Rhea, our Agility star has now become grade 8 which is the highest grade and means she can compete in championship shows.
She came 3rd out of 60 dogs in her first first championship show.
Well done Rhea!
Kerry Crick and Rhea, who Kerry adopted from us as a puppy, qualified for the Rescue Dog Agility Finals.
Rhea was the only Staffie in the finals, despite a clear round, it was in the wrong order and so they were eliminated but what a fantastic achievement, we are so proud of them!
We had a great day at the RSPCA Animal Awareness Day at New Haw on 9th June. Val and John did a great job running the stall with Val’s amazing Treasure Map!
£120 was raised towards funds,
Spring Bank Holiday Stafford Walk Monday 6th May 2013
We had a glorious May morning for our walk with 26 dogs, 22 of whom were Staffords, and 36 people.
£103.40 was raised towards much needed funds.
Kerry brought Rhea (our agility star) all the way from Suffolk along with Neighla and Ernie and Senna the Spaniel.
Mark brought Poppy who was homed in 2007 and has come so far to be able to enjoy the walk.
John brought Sky wearing her Pets as Therapy coat.
As it was so warm we took a shorter route and the dogs enjoyed cooling off in the stream.
We took Lexus and Peppa.
Godalming Pets at Home Fundraiser 17th April – 14th May
Thanks to all of you who came along and supported during our days at Pets at Home. We had some very good days particularly the last Friday and the Sunday. Apparently 500 raffle tickets were sold altogether along with donations into the bucket and round the pound. I spoke with the girl from head office for Support Adoption and she said nationally it was their biggest and most successful fundraiser so far and we should receive our cheque in about 4 weeks.
Nov 2012: We had perfect weather for our 3rd Stafford walk on Sunday 18th November. Sam Keen with Roxy and John and Lynne with Sky were there again plus several others who have made all of the walks so far. Saffy came with her new owners Adam and Jude. Afterwards we were able to continue collecting outside the store, pleasantly warm in the sunshine. Bonny and Sky are both qualified PAT dogs and wore their vests whilst greeting people. We collected £25 from the walk entries, £25.91 from collecting in store and we received a further £30 from donations online.
